The refurbishment of the Sabadell Main Market, Cultural Asset of Local Interest in the municipal catalog, was opened in 2004. It is located on the edge of the city historical center and has always represented an important enclave for city trade. By the years prior to the renovation, the area was affected by a significant activity reduction due to the emergence of new business and changes in the consumers’ buying habits.

The remodeling wanted to reactivate the area through the communication of two levels: the ground existing market, refurbished, and the new commercial offer on the ground floor (a supermarket and a restaurant), through a central core of ramps. They connected also the building with the underground parking lot (not part of the project). Accessibility was also improved by the new position of outside entrances and elevators, both of them located at the building corners. They also give access to the parking lot and the service lifts, which lead to the merchandise management area located in the first floor of the basement.

The project was complemented by the design, implementation and development of the surroundings and the contiguous Plaça Sant Jaume.

The building received the Best Retail Market in Spain Award in 2004, given by MERCASA.
