Until 2012, over thirty players who have been in the FC Barcelona training academy have debuted in the FC Barcelona first football team. It has been shown to the world that the vision of training football players in the club’s values is the hallmark of what recognizes FC Barcelona itself as “more than a club”.

If there is something that has always been associated with the FC Barcelona training academy has been the emblematic building of “La Masia”, initially known as Masia de Can Planes, located within the grounds of the FC Barcelona Stadium, the Camp Nou. However, the increasing number of residents and the availability of having the new Ciutat Esportiva (training zone in Sant Joan Despí) made the club to consider the possibility of building a new space, which could provide these potential future professional football players of new premises to live and train. This new building has very comfortable facilities, and has resulted in a unique residence due to its functionality and also because of its architectural image.

In the building, with capacity for 123 people, two different users coexist: usual residents, members of the club’s youth system that basically occupies the ground, first and second floors, and future occasional users, who will occupy the basement and third floors. The complexity of the functional program solves both uses independently and also limits the outside visitors area and the management area, all of it wrapped with great formal simplicity and structural clarity that stands together with a committed bet on energy saving.
